Don Quijote itself says item selection and prices can differ by store, some stores do not carry a listed item, and an item may be sold out. The practical move is to use the official locator, open the exact product page, and ask the branch about its JAN. Do not quote a price from a video or another branch as if it were guaranteed.

Is furikake tax-free at Don Quijote?

The answer depends on the purchase date. Furikake is food, but one inexpensive packet alone does not reach either system’s ¥5,000-before-tax minimum.

Food consumed in Japan is not eligible for the customs confirmation and refund. Ask Don Quijote how that branch will provide the refund.

The national change does not prove that every Don Quijote branch offers the service or uses the same refund method. Japan’s departure tax-free procedure is also separate from the destination country’s food-import rules; check both before packing.

Where Can You Buy Furikake in Tokyo?

In Tokyo, use the same evidence hierarchy instead of assuming that every branch has the same shelf. Don Quijote’s official store locator can identify a nearby shop, and the product pages above give staff an exact item name and barcode number to check. A full-size supermarket is also worth trying, but this guide has not verified a named Tokyo supermarket branch or its current stock.

If you are departing from Haneda, the six-pack below is the only Tokyo-area airport product in this guide with an official product page and named handling stores. Buy in town before your flight when an exact brand or flavor matters; the airport listing is a fallback, not a stock reservation.

Where to Buy Kyo Rayu in Kyoto

For Kyo Rayu Furikake, the maker provides stronger Kyoto evidence than a generic supermarket lead. Ochanokosaisai’s official feature names five own stores:

The list proves that these official shops exist; it is not a live inventory feed for the 80g Kyo Rayu pouch. We found no official evidence of a permanent Ochanokosaisai Kyo Rayu store in Tokyo or Osaka, so this guide does not claim one.

The maker’s Japanese online shop is a verified domestic ordering route. Its overseas guide says the shop does not ship directly outside Japan and instead explains how an international shopper may use a forwarding service. A forwarding service is not maker-provided international delivery; check its fees, destination rules, and food restrictions separately.

Can You Buy Furikake at Haneda Airport?

Yes, with one unusually specific piece of official evidence. HANEDA Shopping lists a Shinbashi Tamakiya six-pack as a Haneda Airport exclusive for ¥1,620. Its JAN is 4941407186453. The set contains three Japanese-style packets—unagi sansho, tarako kombu, and ume katsuo—and three world-inspired packets—Italian tomato, yakiniku kalbi, and Maharaja curry.

The product page lists six handling stores:

• Terminal 1: PIER 1; PIER 4; HANEDA-YA Gate 7; CAPTAINS’ MARKET.
• Terminal 2: Tokyo Food Products Clock Tower 1 (東京食賓館 時計台1番前); SMILE TOKYO.

This is a handling-store list, not a live stock report. The current online listing also says home delivery only, not same-day airport pickup. It names no Terminal 3 handling store for this exact set.

What about SORADONKI in Terminal 3?

Haneda’s official directory confirms a SORADONKI on T3 5F before security and a T3 3F after-security SORADONKI popup. Both sell food; the popup is listed as open 24 hours. Neither official page names a furikake SKU, so they are reasonable places to ask—not evidence that the Haneda-exclusive six-pack or another exact flavor will be there.

Can You Buy Furikake at Narita Airport?

Possibly, but we could not verify a specific product from Narita’s official pages. The Narita food-products and confectionery directory is still useful because it separates terminals and shops before and after security. It does not publish a furikake inventory.

If you only want any packet, use that directory to identify an open food or souvenir shop in your departure area and ask. If someone requested a particular brand or regional packet, buy it in town or order it ahead; a social post saying it was at Narita last week is not a stock guarantee for your travel day.

Can You Buy Furikake at Kansai International Airport?

KIX has product-level evidence, with an important terminal limit. Its official duty-free catalog currently lists three 40g Nishiki Market KAI seasonings at ¥500 each:

• Sesame and Yuzu flakes, item 2124801009.
• Sesame and Bonito flakes, item 2124801006. The English page currently misspells “bonito” as “Bonitoi.”
• Sesame and Wasabi flakes, item 2124801008.

At our July 13 check, the yuzu and wasabi pages offered Add to Cart. The bonito page said it was out of stock online for now and might be available in stores. That status can change after publication. KIX also states that passengers departing from Terminal 2 cannot use this pre-order service, so a catalog listing is not a plan for every flight. Check the product page again after you know your departure terminal; buy in Osaka, Kyoto, or another city stop first if the exact packet matters.

Should You Try a Supermarket First?

Yes, if you have time before reaching the airport. Search for a full-size supermarket near your hotel or station, then look for ふりかけ among dry seasonings, nori, ochazuke, and rice accompaniments. Use the furikake, ochazuke, and togarashi packet differences if neighboring packets look interchangeable. Shelf layouts vary, so this is a wayfinding suggestion—not a promise about a chain, branch, selection, or price.

Avoid planning around “supermarkets are always cheapest.” We did not collect same-day prices from comparable branches, and package sizes make casual shelf-price comparisons misleading. If the choice feels opaque once you find the aisle, the brand guide narrows products by a verifiable shopping need, and the label decoder helps with ingredients and allergens.

How to Ask for Furikake in a Store

The most useful text to show is the category name: ふりかけ.

• ふりかけはどこですか？ (Furikake wa doko desu ka?) — “Where is the furikake?”

A JAN code is the barcode number used to identify a Japanese retail item. It is more precise than an English flavor translation, but it does not prove stock. Show the official product page as well as the number; packaging can change, and staff may need to check a different shelf or branch.

Verified Maker-Direct Routes

Ordering from a maker can solve the “which branch?” problem, but it replaces it with delivery timing and bundle-size questions.

• Futaba: Gohan no Tomo has a product-specific page in Futaba’s official online shop. Check the current pack and shipping destination before ordering.
• Nichifuri: the official pages for Ajiyose Large Bag and Noritamago Large Bag contain Buy product links to the maker’s online shop. The current shop listings sell these as multi-bag offers, not necessarily one loose packet. Check the current Shizuoka range before ordering.
• Ohmoriya: Ryokuoyasai Furikake has a product-specific listing in Ohmoriya’s official shop. The sales page, not the product name, is the evidence for this route.
• Ochanokosaisai: Kyo Rayu Furikake has a product-specific listing in the maker’s Japanese shop. The same maker names five own Kyoto stores, but neither route proves live stock; its overseas guide points international shoppers to a forwarding service rather than offering direct overseas shipping.
